Introduction

Born in 1963 and graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing, Liu Xiaodong is currently living and working in Beijing. Liu Xiaodong is a key figure of the Chinese realist and New Generation movements. Liu Xiaodong was included in the landmark "China Avant-Garde" 1989 exhibition at the National Gallery in Beijing. His paintings are known for having rich colors, strong brush strokes and for their spontaneity.
